Join Date: Oct Location: Cali Posts: 1,703 Quilted leather floor mats heat & durability reviews? I'm about to pull the trigger on these Carbon Miata quilted floor mats but have a few concerns I was wondering if anyone who's had them for a while could chime in on.

1) Are there any added heat issues over the OEM carpeted mats? I've got an all black car so if they retain more heat than the carpeted mats then it might be a no go.

2) How have they held up? I understand they are rubber/faux leather and should be pretty durable. One area that concerned me was the drivers side which has a rubber pad sewn in for the heel pad, but nothing covering the dead pedal. Has anyone had any wear issues (or other issues in general) in that area? __________________

Join Date: Nov Location: Ontario Canada Posts: 202 I purchased my mats in March. So far so good. I don't see any difference as far as heat retention. Some would suggest that they provide some sound insulation. I have the ILM pedals and installed the dead pedal cover on top of the mat. I also have the Carbon Miata trunk lining. The overall fit is good. I like them! Second gear

I don't think these will retain more heat as I have black carpet as well and covered the mats over them. If anything the mats act as an added bonus of padding and being sound deadners.

The rubber pad sewn is a gift and a curse. If you wear slip ons be careful because they can fall or get stuck on the pad itself. It is very grippy. It also catches all the residue of dirt and sand quickly on your shoes. It is easy to clean wipe and vaccum the mats. Second gear

So between that and the dead pedal attachment point, the mat does not move around at all. I had done the dead pedal shortening mod and was concerned that the carpet might not fit quite right. Not a problem. I opted for the classic black so it does not dramatically change the appearance over the factory black carpet. Second gear  
Join Date: Jan Location: Jersey City NJ Posts: 213 Great mats I've had my all black mats since early last year. They still look like new. I was able to tuck them under the center console, but if I try and tuck them under the door sills the door sills are not flat and level, so I just leave them loose at that side. The matts are pretty heavy duty so they don't move around at all.

I don't have anything covering the dead petal, so it has seen mud, salt, gravel and who knows what else, but all it takes is a damp rag, and it looks like new.
